Best Habit Tracker Apps 2025 — Streaks, Habitica, Routine, 3weeks Compared

2026-07-18·4min read

There are more habit apps than you'd expect. I built 3weeks, so I have a clear bias here. I'll name it upfront and try to give each app a fair look based on actual use.

What I'm Comparing

  • Streaks — iOS-only paid habit app. Apple Design Award winner.
  • Habitica — RPG-style app that turns habits into a game with characters and parties.
  • Routine (루틴) — Korean app focused on time-scheduled daily routines.
  • 3weeks — the app I built. Centered around a 21-day challenge system.

Streaks

One of the most polished habit apps on iOS. You track up to 6 habits at a time and the app keeps you from breaking your streak. The watchOS integration is seamless.

Pros:

  • Apple Watch support — check in from your wrist
  • Extremely clean, intuitive UI
  • HealthKit integration — auto-tracks exercise, sleep, etc.
  • Fully offline

Cons:

  • Paid app (~$2.99 USD)
  • iOS only — no Android
  • Hard cap of 6 habits at a time
  • No "21-day goal" concept — it's an infinite streak structure

Best for: Apple Watch users who want to track a small set of core habits with a premium experience.

Habitica

Habitica turns habit-building into an RPG. Checking in earns your character XP; missing a habit costs you HP. You can form parties with friends and tackle habit challenges together.

Pros:

  • Gamification can make habits feel fun
  • Social/party system for group accountability
  • iOS and Android
  • Free to start

Cons:

  • Cluttered UI with a steep learning curve
  • Gamification can feel overwhelming or childish to some
  • Some features require a monthly subscription
  • App is heavy and can feel slow

Best for: People who enjoy games and want community-driven accountability.

Routine (루틴)

A time-block-based routine manager. You set up morning or evening routines as ordered sequences of tasks, and check them off in order. More of a daily planner than a habit tracker.

Pros:

  • Supports ordered routines with time allocations
  • Well-designed for structured daily schedules
  • Clean interface
  • Good Korean language support

Cons:

  • Focused on recurring routines, not long-term habit goals (21 days, 90 days)
  • No streak or badge reward system
  • Minimal statistics

Best for: People who follow a fixed morning/evening routine and want to manage the sequence.

3weeks

My app. The core idea: if you repeat a behavior for 21 days straight, it becomes a habit. Rather than tracking infinite streaks, 3weeks focuses on completing a defined 21-day challenge.

Pros:

  • 21-day challenge structure — a clear finish line reduces dropout
  • Daily check-in with mood, completion score, and photo/video attachment
  • Badge rewards at 7, 21, 60, and 90 days
  • Statistics: calendar view, weekly patterns, mood trend, average completion
  • iOS and Android
  • 5 languages (Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, German)
  • Free

Cons:

  • Limited number of simultaneous challenges
  • No HealthKit integration
  • No Apple Watch support
  • No social or sharing features

Best for: People starting a specific challenge ("just 21 days") and who want to document the journey with notes and photos. Dieting, exercise, studying, quitting a habit.

Which One Should You Use?

  • Premium feel + Apple Watch? → Streaks
  • Gamification + group accountability? → Habitica
  • Structured daily time-block routines? → Routine
  • A clear 21-day challenge with progress documentation? → 3weeks

No habit app guarantees you'll stick with it. The best one is the one you actually open every day. Try the free options first, and commit to one for the full 21 days before switching.
