Position Profit Analysis — There's a Specific Spot Where Your Chips Are Leaking

Why Position Matters

Position in poker means your betting order. Late position (Button, Cutoff) lets you act after seeing your opponents' decisions — a significant advantage. Early position (UTG, UTG+1) requires acting first without that information.

Strong players adjust their range and strategy dramatically based on position. Many developing players play too similarly across all positions, leaving significant EV on the table.

Position-by-Position Profit Breakdown

My Bankroll tracks cumulative profit and loss for each position.

Button (BTN) — The best position in poker. If you're not profiting here, you're not extracting the full value of positional advantage.

Big Blind (BB) — A forced investment with a defensive role. Some loss from BB is normal long-term, but excessive loss signals a weak BB defense strategy.

UTG (Under the Gun) — The most disadvantaged position. Significant losses here often mean playing too wide a range from early position.

What to Look For in Position Data

  • Not profiting from late position (BTN, CO) → underusing positional advantage
  • Heavy losses from UTG → range too wide from early position
  • Big Blind losses are disproportionately large → BB defense strategy needs work

When data shows these patterns, it tells you exactly which areas of your game to focus on improving.
