Reviving a 7-Year-Old Idea — This Time with Flutter

Was There Already Something Like This?
After pulling out the idea again after 7 years, the first thing I did was search the App Store.
There was something. An app literally called OneThing, built around the same concept from The One Thing.
I installed it. And I was disappointed.
- Barely any features
- A paywall appeared the moment you opened the app
- Zero reviews
No reviews means nobody's using it. If you push payments before offering real value, people delete it immediately. I deleted it too.
I can build something better than this.
That thought reignited the project.
Why Flutter
This time, I wanted to cover iOS and Android simultaneously from the start. I also had experience rebuilding Smart Lotto and 3weeks in Flutter.
I was originally an iOS developer — Swift/UIKit was my comfort zone. But the advantage of building once in Flutter and shipping to both platforms was too clear to ignore.
The structure of First Domino wasn't complex: top-down goal input, daily check-in, reminder notifications. Flutter was more than capable of handling this, and Dart's straightforward syntax was actually great for fast development.
June 23, 2026 — It Begins
June 23, 2026, 4:08 PM. I registered the bundle and app in App Store Connect, and development officially started.
What had been sitting as notes for 7 years finally had a real project bundle.
This time, I was going to finish it.
Next up: the design direction behind First Domino — and how black and gold became its identity.
